2024-25

This is an introduction to practical modern quantum chemistry. Students will learn the historical development of quantum mechanics with emphasis on the differences between classical and quantum solutions to simple problems, such as a particle-in-a-box, a harmonic oscillator, and a rigid rotor. Emphasis will be placed on application of quantum mechanics to problems related to chemistry. Students will learn how to use modern quantum chemistry software to perform calculations on atoms and molecules.
