This course is designed for students who plan to get involved with new ventures at some point their careers – either as a founder, employee, advisor, or investor.  The course is also appropriate for students interested in a broader view of the financial landscape for young firms.  The course covers all stages of the venture life cycle – startup, valuation, financing, and exit from a finance perspective.  It discusses deal structuring, incentives, valuation, and business models.  There will be a focus on financing models such as angel financing, venture capital, corporate venture capital and how they are matched to the startup lifecycle.
