Course info

This course is a comprehensive study of the internals of advanced database systems. Topics include Query evaluation and optimization, Spatial data management, Multi-criteria search, Top-k queries, Text data management, spatio-textual search, Geo-social network data management, Uncertain data management and Data mining.

The goal of the course is to help students understand how a database system is designed and developed, the database system extensions on complex data types, and the background and knowledge of some contemporary topics in information management. The class will also stress the ability to implement some practical application modules.
