Course Description and Objectives
This course offers a broad overview of the transformative technologies reshaping the financial industry. We will explore key themes such as e-payment systems and cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity and privacy, and regulatory technologies, along with alternative finance. Students will gain insights into how these innovations drive new financial services, enhance security, and influence regulatory practices. The learning outcomes of this course are as follows:
- Develop a broad understanding of the recent FinTech developments and their impact on the financial services industry.
Understand the technology trends shaping FinTech, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data. - Understand how technologies are applied to enable new financial services, such as peer-to-peer lending, robo-advisor, and credit scoring.
- Understand the key considerations in designing financial applications, such as security, privacy, and regulatory compliance, to ensure the development of robust and trustworthy FinTech solutions.
