This course intends to enhance students' understanding of the functions of social policy in satisfying human needs, solving social problems, and strengthening families and communities. It increases students' competency in policy advocacy and practice. It introduces key concepts and theoretical perspectives of social welfare, policy process, and analytical social policy framework. The course outlines an overview of Hong Kong's social policy development. It enhances students' ability to policy critique and analytical skills through an in-depth examination of current social policy issues in Hong Kong.
