MEDD6703 Second language acquisition [Section 1A, 2025]

This module introduces students to the various processes involved in second language acquisition and to current debates in the field, in particular the intertwining relationships of key factors including the role of the first language and its culture, input & interaction, formal instruction, age and motivation, etc., will be explored from different perspectives. Both theoretical and pedagogical issues will be addressed through analyses of various case studies of second language learners documented internationally and locally. Course participants will be engaged in an in-depth self-reflection on their personal experiences in light of the relevant perspectives.
