This course aims to equip students with the skills necessary to undertake their thesis projects in the spring. Through a mix of lectures, seminars, independent research, and individual assignments, students will be introduced to the foundational concepts shaping the design process and a broad range of media typically used by architects to conceive and represent buildings and architectural ideas (drawings, models, maps, etc). Each session is designed to encourage hands-on experimentation with these media, enabling students to evaluate their methodological strengths and applicability to their design goals. The final three sessions are dedicated to developing non-design-related skills crucial for researching, devising, and presenting any project. By the end of the semester, students will have acquired a comprehensive set of theoretical, practical, and soft skills, preparing them to confidently embark on their thesis projects.
